About the F1iA home
The F1 Idiots Anonymous is a group of individuals who share an interest in Formula 1 and wish to have some competitive fun predicting the outcome of each Grand Prix:
- the driver who gains pole position
- the drivers who gain podium positions (double points are awarded for any driver who finishes in the predicted position)
- the driver who gains fastest lap in the race
Before the start of the season, members also predict the driver and team who they think will win the F1 World Championships. Correct championship predictions receive bonus points.
A small annual membership fee is charged and the funds are distributed as prizes at the end of the season.
The F1iA was formed in 2006 and the President for 2024 is Kayne Richens.

Rules
- Each member of F1iA is responsible for making his/her own predictions on a race by race basis.
- Predictions must be lodged via the user's account in the online system.
- Predictions must be lodged by the closing time specified in the online system which is the start of the first practice session of a race weekend (in most cases this is a Friday; for the Monaco Grand Prix, it is a Thursday).
- Each member is required to predict the top three drivers in each race in final race order, the driver who will be in pole position for the race and the driver who will set the fastest lap of the race.
- If a member does not submit his/her predictions or does not submit them by the deadline, that member's default predictions will be applied (see rule 1.6).
- Before the start of the Formula 1 season, each member must lodge a default prediction regarding the top three drivers, who will be in pole position and who will set the fastest lap. Default race predictions will be applied if a member does not lodge his/her race predictions by the deadline (see rule 1.3). A member may change his/her default predictions for future races at any stage of the season.
- Before the start of the Formula 1 season, each member must predict a driver who they think will win the F1 World Drivers' Championship. Members who correctly predict the champion will receive bonus points at the end of the season (see rule 2.6).
- Before the start of the Formula 1 season, each member must predict a team who they think will win the F1 World Constructors' Championship. Members who correctly predict the champion will receive bonus points at the end of the season (see rule 2.7).
- Individual round results will be available via f1ia.com and/or email as soon as possible after the race has finished, and all member results can be viewed via the F1iA online leaderboard once the results have been finalised.
- At the end of the Formula 1 season, prizes will be awarded in accordance with Section 4.
-
Scoring System
- Each member will be assigned the championship points that their nominated drivers receive, regardless of where the driver finishes in the top ten positions in that race, with the exception of 2.2 and 2.7.
- If the nominated driver finishes in the predicted position, double points will be assigned to the member for that driver.
- Members will receive no compensation for penalties any of their nominated drivers incur, or for the failure of any nominated driver to complete a race in a point-scoring position.
- Twelve points will be awarded if a member correctly predicts the driver who takes pole position for a race.
- Twelve points will be awarded if a member correctly predicts the driver who sets the fastest lap in the race.
- Fifty bonus points will be awarded if a member correctly predicts the driver who wins the F1 World Drivers' Championship.
- Fifty bonus points will be awarded if a member correctly predicts the driver who wins the F1 World Constructors' Championship.
- In the event of a race concluding short of full distance, yet long enough for a result, F1iA members will receive the same points awarded to the Formula 1 drivers.
- Ties for the top three places on the overall leaderboard will be resolved as follows: Should more than one member receive the same number of points, the member with the highest number of round wins will be awarded the prize. Should more than one of those members have the same number of round wins, the prize will be awarded to the member with the highest number of correct race winner predictions. This will follow on to correct second and third predictions if the tied position is still not resolved. Other member(s) will be displaced to the next position and any further ties will be resolved in the same way. If it is not possible to resolve a tie after applying these rules, award of the prize will be at the discretion of the F1iA President.
-
Membership fee
- Each member must pay an annual fee of AU$20 before predictions close for the first race of the season.
- Failure to pay before predictions close will result in the user not being part of the competition, nor will they appear on the leaderboard.
- The President will hold the membership fees for distribution as prizes at the end of the season.
-
Prizes
- Prizes will be awarded at the end of the season to the three members who score the most points.
- The prize pool will be distributed to the first three places after deductions have been made for round wins set out in 4.3:
First place: 50% Second place: 30% Third place: 20% - For each round a prize will be awarded to the round winner(s). Where there is more than one round winner, the round prize is split evenly between all round winners. Earnings made through round wins will accumulate and be paid at the end of the season. Round win prizes vary dependent upon the number of F1iA members, as follows:
Number of members Round prize 20 - 32 AU$12 33 - 39 AU$15 40 or more AU$18 - The President reserves the right to adjust the distribution of prize funds between these categories, but the total prize pool (after PayPal transaction fees have been applied) must be distributed to the winning members.
- Where there are more than 3 members who tie for a round win the round prize money will not be awarded to the round winners. Instead the round prize will 'jackpot' and be added to the next round's prize pool. This process will recur until there are 3 or fewer round winners for a single round.
- If there are more than 3 members who tie for the win in the
final round of the championship one of the following will apply:
- Where Rule 4.5 has applied to round(s) leading up to the final round (i.e. there are multiple round prizes on offer for the final round), the round prize will be shared between round winners, regardless of the number of round winners.
- OR
- If Rule 4.5 has not applied to round(s) immediately prior to the final round (i.e. the usual round prize is on offer), the final round prize will be shared evenly among the top three members of the championship after the final round results have been processed.
